Practice Pickpocketing And Takedowns In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Published on:

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, if you wish to become the ultimate thief and make money, you need to master the act of Pickpocketing and Takedowns. However, be advised that these are risky if you cannot pull it off.

Before you start targeting nobles, guards, or merchants, you might want to increase your Thievery level.

The best place to practice Pickpocketing and Takedowns is during the Materia Prima quest in the Lower Semine Mill. This is where you will meet Hired hand Hansel, who you can practice these two acts with, without repercussions.

Pickpocketing In Materia Prime Quest

Pickpocketing is an optional objective for which you must talk to Hired hand Hansel. You can find Hansel in the mill area, but this can vary by the time of day.

You can meet him in the northwest corner of the mill area during the daytime, but in the evening, he’ll sit on the bench outside the miller’s house.

Approach him and tell him, “I want to try pickpocketing,” and he’ll explain how it works.

As mentioned, Pickpocketing in Kingdom Come is highly risky, especially during the early playthrough.

Even though you can begin pickpocketing right from the start, you are only taught it properly during the Materia Prima quest, a part of the Miller questline that ties into the Wedding Crashers’ main quest.

How Do You Master The Act Of Pickpocketing?

First things first, staying unnoticed while Pickpocketing is a crucial step, as well as, of course, wearing a light outfit like Thieves’ Clothing will help, too. Ensure the target and nearby NPCs don’t see you, especially if you are not skilled enough.

For the best result, you might want to try stationary targets or target drunk, sleeping, or isolated NPCs.

Also, always target the back pouch of the NPCs, not the front one, as the back pouches are easier to steal.

Now that you’ve locked your target approach the pouch and hold the Rob button to start the process.

You should see a ticking clock once you hold down the Rob button. Now, to initiate Pickpocketing, you must go past the arrow mark on the clock, steal from the pouch, and exit undetected.

However, the target can spot your attempt if you hold the clock for too long.

It is safe to wait till the center is blue, but once it turns red, you should leave the Rob button to enter the pockets. If you keep waiting after the center turns red, the target will spot you and can call for help.

So, basically, you need to figure out how much time you want to spend ruffling through someone’s pockets.

After that you should manually discover the items you want to steal and leave before the target finds out.

Picking an item from your target will reduce your Pickpocketing timer, so take only the valuable items.

Practice Takedowns

After you learn Pickpocketing, ask Hansel about learning Takedowns if you have not proceeded with the dialogue this way.

Sneak up from behind your target, grab to seize them, and time your chokehold correctly to subdue them for a successful takedown.

You can practice multiple skills in Materia Prime.

You can practice Takedown with Hansel. You should counter Hensel when he tries to escape your grab.

When he attempts to break free, watch for the green shield icon and press the counter button precisely when the icon appears.

Once you have completed Takedown and Pickpocketing, you can jump to another optional skill: Lockpicking, which can come in handy to steal items in future questlines.
