The mystical bamboo grove is set in southwestern Settsu, slightly north of Osaka Castle near Noda Village; it is among the very important locations in AC Shadows.
This peaceful yet mysterious setting plays a significant role in the Butterfly Collector quest, where players discover a terrible kidnapping scheme.
How To Reach Bamboo Grove In AC Shadows?
Getting to the bamboo grove begins with the quest “All Will Be Well.” After collecting ten Origami Butterflies scattered through the game world, you receive cryptic clues pointing to a burnt well northeast of the Temple of Osaka.
When you get there, you will overhear two gardeners talking about a bamboo grove amid the charred buildings, setting the lead for the next investigation phase.
Finding the bamboo grove is not that simple. You will have to decipher multiple clues leading to its locations:
- It is situated southwest of Settsu
- It is located north of Osaka Castle
- It is located next to Noda village
Ordering your scouts to survey the area southwest of the Katano Oil Trading Location reveals this hidden sanctuary of swaying bamboo stalks.
Battle Against Richo
The serene atmosphere of the bamboo grove belies its dark purpose. Stepping into this greenish hideaway, you will encounter your target, Richo, deep in the business of kidnapping.
Found meditating among the heavy bamboo, Richo soon abandons her position of tranquility the moment she spots you to set a challenge.
All moralities aside, Richo combats on her own in this almost deserted grove.
Nevertheless, fighting Richos is not the only option. Try an ambush from the back, hiding from her in the thick bamboo.
From the front door, aim for a sneak headshot with a Kunai, maybe weaken her before going in for the kill. Richo is an outright brawl to many players, as she is a manageable level 9.
Open space within the bamboo clusters gives room to maneuver while sunlight filtering through the canopy creates a visually stunning arena for this battle.
Rewards And Progression
Many rewards exist for those who defeat Richo at the bamboo grove:
- The Dog Ear, a common Tanto weapon for Naoe
- 2,000 XP toward character strengthening
- 1 Mastery Point to be used for the player’s development
But most importantly, by killing Richo, you will cripple one arm of the kidnapping operation and push your progress into The Butterfly Collector questline, allowing you to advance that much further in dismantling this criminal organization in the shadows of ancient Japan.
