Guile Soldier Skin In Overwatch 2 X Street Fighter Crossover

Published on:

Overwatch 2 introduced the Guile Soldier: 76 skin as part of its Street Fighter 6 collaboration, giving Soldier 76 a completely new look.

The skin is based on Guile’s updated appearance in Street Fighter 6, and while it’s meant to bring nostalgia, many fans had a confusing reaction to it.

This is one of several crossover skins in the game, like Blanka for Winston.

What’s In The Guile Bundle In Overwatch?

The Guile Soldier: 76 bundle is priced at 2,800 Coins and comes with six items:

  • Legendary Skin: Guile
  • Emote: Guile Wins (Epic)
  • Highlight Intro: Guile Wins (Epic)
  • Victory Pose: Guile Wins (Rare)
  • Voice Lines: “Rookie Mistake” and “Sonic Boom!” (Common)

The skin gives Soldier 76 a new outfit that mixes his usual gear with Guile’s SF6 army jacket.

But instead of Guile’s usual military camo, the design is mostly bright blue. His name is written across the back like a sports jersey.

The most noticeable feature is the oversized blonde hair, which oddly fits Soldier 76, even if it looks out of place.

Many Players Are Certainly Not Happy WIth The Skin

The fan response has been a mix of confusion and frustration. The design threw many off, especially those who haven’t played Street Fighter 6 and expected Guile’s classic clean-cut look.

Fans also questioned the choice of adding a blue goatee and the lack of signature Guile features.

Many were upset that “Sonic Boom” doesn’t play when Helix Rocket is fired, or that the voice line is awkwardly delivered.

Comparisons And Disappointment

Some fans even compared the situation to a past crossover, saying this skin did them like the Cowboy Bebop collab did Cassidy, building up hope and then letting them down.

While Soldier 76’s standard skins are often plain, this one goes all in on flash, which just didn’t work for everyone.

One player even said, “This is pure fandom coming out and nonsensical AF.” For those who grew up with the classic Guile, this version may just feel wrong.
