Black Tar Prophecies Quest Choices In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, the Black Tar Prophecies quest gives you a choice to side with either Drest or Iona.
You get this quest from Jann Heber, who can be found in the Horns of the South Fortress. He tells you to find a hermit named Drest, who understands druid magic.

When you meet him, you will need to convince him to help. The easiest way to do this is by giving him food. Once he agrees, he will ask you to meet him later at a place called the Ancient Cromlech.
At the Ancient Cromlech, Drest begins a ritual, and during the ritual, a strange woman named Iona appears.

This is where you must make a choice, and there are three different ways the quest can go.
Let Drest Live In The Fall Avalon
The first choice is to attack Iona immediately. If you do this, she will fight you. After you defeat her, Drest will feel sad and talk about the past.
The ritual site will be cleansed, and you can speak with Drest to learn more about what happened in the past.
The second choice is to ask Iona questions first, then choose to attack her. This works the same way as the previous path.
She will still attack you, and the outcome is almost the same. The difference is that you get to hear more of the story before the fight.

Agree With Iona In Black Tar Prophecies Quest
The third and final choice is to ask Iona questions and then agree with her that Drest should be punished. If you do this, Drest will die instantly, and you will not have to fight anyone.
Further, make sure to loot Drest’s body before talking to Iona, as it will disappear after you speak with her.
Once everything is done, return to Jann Heber to finish the quest. You will receive 1100 XP and a Druid’s Tailsman as a reward. Finally, we recommend letting Drest live, as he is part of other quests later in the game that could be blocked or changed if he dies.
