Located north within the Casterfell Woods not far from the dam, Bunker L9 is one of the most rewarding but difficult installations to be discovered Atomfall.
At about 23.3E, 90.6N, this bunker holds precious commodities and strategic advantages for any player who dares to confront its dangers.
Location And Access To Bunker L9 In Atomfall
Bunker L9 lies in a fenced area just below the dam in northwestern Casterfell Woods. Entry into the facility can be gained by times through small openings in the fenced area.
After squeezing through, one can unlock the gate from the inside to make access a little easier for future visits.
Otherwise, the upstairs facility can be accessed via a gas-filled tunnel from across the entrance of the Dam Data Store, although damage is generally incurred using this route unless prior planning has taken place.
Dangers And Challenges In Bunker L9
The area surrounding Bunker L9 teems with Feral enemies, making your approach potentially hazardous.
Upon entering the underground facility, these threats manifest themselves: Many Feral enemies patrol the corridors and main areas inside.
The bunker’s general design provides a more open central area than other facilities like Bunker L6, hence creating tactical opportunities in combat.
The most applicable danger in Bunker 9, however, is the office above the entrance, which is filled with toxic gas. Overcoming this environmental hazard will, however, require specific strategies.
The two main methods of dealing with this toxic zone include activating the ventilation system using the Signal Redirector and the Antidote to increase poison resistance temporarily.
The Stealth Method
Should you wish to avoid a conflict with Ferals altogether, go left into the vent pathway as you enter, and from there, get to the office above the entrance.
The moment you step into the gas-filled office, down your antidote to augment your poison resistance. Get the keycard from the desk on the right side of the room and leave quickly.
All the while, your continued exposure will keep inflicting damage regardless of the Antitode defense.
The Combat Approach
Players confined in combat can go in with guns blazing, take care of all the Ferals first, and then deal with the vent system. Right after entering the main room, turn immediately to the right.
The Feral hiding behind the crate will awaken and assault, likely bringing the attention of others nearby. After taking care of all Ferals, continue clockwise to the vent control room.
Use your Signal Redirector through the wall to switch the Junction Box, or alternatively, go around through the hole in the outer wall for direct access.
After switching the box, activate the vents to ventilate the poisoned gas from the office area so the keycard can be retrieved safely.
