In the post-apocalyptic land of Atomfall, a mysterious substance known as Oberon (Sample One) has reshaped the entire world and created grievous quarantine zones filled with infected humans and hidden secrets.
Sample One stands at the very crux of this intricate story and, in a way, may change everything.
Oberon’s History In Atomfall
Oberon shows up as a purple meteorite that has affected the environment and animal life immensely.
Dr. Holder, one of the major scientists in the story, has been carrying out extensive research into this enigmatic substance.
The results of his research were largely due to infections, which influenced people to become monsters called Thralls, recognizable by their unnatural blue skin and eyes.
The Quest For Sample One In Atomfall
Retrieval of Sample One is the principal mission in Atomfall. Deep inside The Interchange’s Medical department, the purified sample of Oberon is not easily obtained.
Players will encounter relatively complex tasks:
- Power up The Interchange’s Central Processor Room
- Activate multiple Data Stores
- Access the lower level of the Medical department
- Get through toxic gas and malfunctioning electric doors
- Engage with the infected enemies and proceed to the Auditorium
Dr. Holder’s Plan To Destroy Oberon
Dr. Holder, infected but resistant through Experimental Innoculation, wants to destroy Oberon. His plan is as follows:
- To create a toxin using Sample One
- To poison the Oberon meteorite at the dig site
- To activate the Fire Safety System to disperse the poison
While destroying Oberon might seem like a victory, the ending reveals a more complex situation.
The protagonist and Dr. Holder are hiding underground, have no idea what will happen to them next, and suffer the terrors of government persecution.
