The “Family Reunion” side quest in Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is a short, simple, yet sad story.
In this quest, you help a young girl who is searching for her missing father, but no matter what you choose, the ending stays tragic.
If you free the prisoner in the dungeon, you find out the father has become a vampire, and the girl dies because of it.
How To Start And Complete The Family Reunion Quest
To start the “Family Reunion” quest, you need to go to Lochmuir Village. There, you will find a young girl.
Talk to her, and she will ask you to help find her missing father. This will begin the first part of the quest.
After talking to the girl, your next step is to kill the Dungeon Keeper. You must defeat the Dungeon Keeper because he holds the Dungeon Key.

When you kill him, you will get the key. Then you can use it to open the dungeon. Inside the dungeon, you need to find the girl’s father. When you find him, he is locked up as a prisoner.
If you decide to free the prisoner, you will learn the sad truth. The girl’s father has turned into a vampire.
After being freed, the father escapes and kills his daughter. It is a very tragic moment. After this happens, you must return to the girl to finish the quest.
What Happens If You Do Not Free the Prisoner?
Some players wonder what happens if they do not free the prisoner. If you start a new game and decide not to free him, the quest will not update by itself.
It will just stay in your journal as an unfinished quest. Moreover, it will stay there until you either complete it by freeing him or leave it unfinished forever.

There is also no hidden ending. You only have two choices: free the prisoner and cause the tragedy, or never free him and leave the girl waiting forever.
Family Reunion Quest Ending In Mandragora
Many players feel upset about how the quest ends. Some players say it is better that the girl gets to see her father one last time.
They believe that waiting and not knowing what happened would hurt her even more. Others are not happy and think the game should have given more options.

For example, they wish they could chase and kill the vampire father after he escapes, and then help the girl stay safe. But sadly, Mandragora does not work that way. It is not the type of RPG that gives players many choices for the story.
